Sunland International School is a co-educational day school, bilingual
in English and Spanish. The school offers an international curriculum
and is seeking authorization to offer the Primary Years and Middle
Years Programmes of the International Baccalaureate Organisation,
along with the IB Diploma. The Primary School incorporates the content
and methodology of the English National Curriculum, including the
Literacy and Numeracy Strategies. The school's Spanish courses meet
the requirements of the Spanish Ministry of Education. Well-qualified
teachers from the UK and Spain, working in small classes, are able
to place emphasis on planning for the individual development of each
student.
The classrooms are colourful and attractive. They are equipped
with extensive modern resources to challenge and motivate the children,
and to enable them to seek information and investigate concepts
through up-to-date audio-visual and technological methods. Human
values in personal development are promoted, so students have a
sense of justice, self-discipline, tolerance and respect.
Extra-curricular clubs offer drama, dance, music, sports and English
or Spanish through the medium of creative arts and games.
The spacious campus is in the countryside just outside Malaga,
while offering easy access from the surrounding residential areas.
Malaga University and Scientific and Technological Park are nearby.
Facilities include garden areas, sports pitches, swimming pool,
climbing wall, towers and rope bridges for adventure sports, ponds
and a site for stables. Sunland is developing a strong environmental
awareness programme with opportunities for practical application.
Healthy three course lunches are included in the fees. Transport
services are available at a small extra cost.
The Secondary school opens with Year 7 students (age 11-12 years)
in September 2003 and will expand by one year group annually thereafter.
