Caxton College is an independent
British co-educational, day and boarding school for pupils between
the ages of 1 to 18 years. It was founded in 1987 thanks to the
initiative of a Valencian family. The school is accredited by both
the English and Spanish educational authorities.
Caxton College
is purpose built and stands in 26,000 m2 in the village of Puçol,
just 19 km north of Valencia on the east coast of Spain. It is located
halfway between the mountains and the sea, with a mild Mediterranean
climate and extraordinary light. It is an open, multicultural school
- a community without barriers where students from different continents
come together creating an understanding and tolerant atmosphere.
Caxton College has on roll 1,200 students between
the ages of 1 to 18. The British National Curriculum is imparted
by a highly professional, experienced, British trained staff just
as the obligatory Spanish subjects are taught by equally professional
Spanish trained staff The students take SATS in Year 2, Year 6 and
Year 9 and then go on to take IGCSEs at the age of 16. In the sixth
form, from the ages of 16 to 18, the pupils take A levels and AS
levels and also prepare the Spanish University Entrance Exam. The
students at Caxton have an excellent record in their examination
results, and this is an important facet of their education.
Individual and personalised attention for students
is achieved through communication between students, teachers and
parents. Moreover, the centre has an intensive programme for language
support (in English and in Spanish) for those students who require
it.
Caxton College has expanded its boarding facilities
with two boarding options available to pupils of Secondary age both
of which give the opportunity for a unique and unforgettable experience.
Boarding with families: the host families, carefully chosen and
supervised, help the student adapt to his or her new environment,
since the student forms a part of the family and shares in their
experiences.
Boarding at Caxton College: the on-site facilities
provide the opportunity to learn to live with classmates of different
nationalities and to make new friends. The pupils are constantly
supervised by the boarding school staff.
Both options offer the student a special and
personalised monitoring programme. Parents receive a detailed report
that gives academic as well as personal information about their
child's progress on a monthly basis.
At Caxton College academic life is not our
only concern: it is also accompanied by physical, cultural, artistic,
social and moral development, as well as critical skills through
the Personal, Social and Health Education Programme.
The school's magnificent facilities include
a large gymnasium (500 m2), sports fields, tennis courts, short
tennis courts, handball, basketball, volleyball and beach volley
courts, roller skating area, semi-olympic swimming pool, science
laboratories, a library with over 20,000 educational and leisure
resources, IT laboratory, art room, music rooms etc.
Pupils can choose from a wide range of extracurricular
activities which take place during the daytime, hence not interrupting
the school bus service. The activities available to students include,
judo, taekwondo, karate, football, volleyball, basketball, ballet,
French, chess, piano, violin, music theory and many others.
Other services include: a bus service covering
a wide area of Valencia and Castellon; a dining room offering morning
snacks and 3 course lunches, and medical assistance.
The school year at Caxton
College is divided into three terms.
School starts at the beginning of September and finishes at the
end of June. The school hours are from 9.30 am to 5 pm.
