The Baleares International School is a non-denominational day school
situated in the residential district near the sea on the western edge
of Palma de Mallorca. The school has developed a dual-track British-American
curriculum that, at high school level, offers an extensive range of
subject options. These meet the needs of the students who seek entry
to the most demanding universities in North America, Europe and Australia
as well as those who require a sound general education as preparation
for business training.
There is a choice of seven GCE 'A' Level and 14 GCSE subjects.
College entrance tests, including Advanced Placement examinations
are available. Eligible students completing 12th Grade successfully
receive High School Diplomas.
The school is licensed by the Spanish Ministry of Education and
Science on the basis of evaluation by British inspectors. Its professional
staff are fully qualified and possess an average of 14 years' experience.
The academic year is divided into two semesters of 18 teaching
weeks each and runs from early September to the last week in June.
The school and its grounds occupy more than four acres. Three attractive
Majorcan-style buildings have been re-modelled into 17 teaching
rooms that include two laboratories and a computer room, an art
centre and a library of more than 6,000 volumes. Admission is open
to students of all nations on the presentation of previous school
records and, where appropriate, on the results of placement tests.
